Q: When KIU wants to (re)launch an application I get an error (-43). What does this mean ?
A:
1: The target of the alias of your document/application could not be found. Check if the aliases in the KIU Items folder are valid by double clicking them in the finder.
2: Try rebuilding your desktop by holding down command-option on system startup.
3: Check your directory using a disk utility like Disk First Aid 7.2 or newer.
Q: When KIU wants to (re)launch an application I get an error (-108) or (-601) or (-605). What does this mean ?
A: There isn't enough memory available to launch the application. Reduce the Memory Requirements of the application(s) you're trying to launch in the Get-info dialog in the finder.
Q: The Quit menu is disabled and I can't quit KIU. What do I do ?
A: Hold down the shift key during menu selection or disable the 'Protected Quit' feature in the Preferences.
Q: Why doesn't the "Protected Quit" feature passwords ?
A: The protected quit is meant to keep users from accidentally quitting KIU. Passwords will give you a false sense of security because a knowledgeable and determined user will always find a way to bypass such a system.
Q: I'm running System 7.5 and when KIU restarts my Mac, it gets stuck on restart with a dialog warning me to shutdown properly in the future. What can I do ?
A: Switch off the shutdown warning in the general controls control panel.
Q: Why don't you create a fat version of KIU instead of offering 68000 and PowerPC versions ?
This allows you to still run the 68K version on a PowerPC. The 68K version only uses 150Kb RAM versus 240Kb for the PowerPC version. Because KIU uses by nature very little processor power, there should not be much performance difference.
Q: Where can I obtain the latest version of KIU ?
A: I always upload new versions to the Internet. Any info-mac mirror archive for the latest version or try http://www.vl-brabant.be/mac for info on the latest version
